tabber-rs is retiring

tabber-rs is the version of Tabber for stores on Ecwid partner platforms, such as Duda and Wix, that don't offer the Ecwid App Market or Ecwid billing. It's being retired. This page explains what that means for your store and what you can do.

In short: your tabs keep working, Tabber is free, and you don't need to do anything urgently.

When What happens
Now tabber-rs is free. Subscriptions have been cancelled and nobody will be charged again. Lifetime licences need nothing more.
Until 1 December 2026 The Tabber page in your Ecwid admin works as before. Change your tab style now if you want to.

Your tabs keep working

After 1 December 2026 your tabs keep showing on your storefront in the style you last saved, and you can still add [tab] shortcodes to products and categories. The storefront code is served from a content delivery network and doesn't depend on e-shop designer's server.

Tabber will keep working for as long as it can, but a future Ecwid change could stop it without warning. If that happens, shoppers would see the [tab] shortcodes as plain text. So when it suits you, we recommend replacing your tabs with one of the options below.

Please don't uninstall tabber-rs while your descriptions use tabs

Unless you've installed the App Market version of Tabber, uninstalling tabber-rs means shoppers see the [tab] shortcodes as plain text.

Option 1: Tabber from the Ecwid App Market

Some Ecwid partner platforms now give stores full access to the Ecwid App Market. If yours does, you can install Tabber from Infinite Apps instead. It uses the same [tab] shortcodes, so your descriptions don't need to change. It's a paid app, billed through Ecwid.

  1. In your Ecwid admin, go to Apps › App Market, search for Tabber, and install it.
  2. Set your tab style again in its settings. Settings aren't copied over from tabber-rs.
  3. Check a few products on your storefront, then uninstall tabber-rs.

While both versions are installed, the App Market version is the one that runs, and tabber-rs stands aside. If you disable the App Market version in its settings, tabber-rs takes over again.

Option 2: Replace your tabs with Ecwid's own features

Ecwid's description editor has collapsible blocks and headings, which need no app at all. From 1 December 2026 the Tabber page in your Ecwid admin has a converter that changes the tabs in your whole catalog at once:

  1. Export your catalog from Ecwid (Catalog › Data Import and Export › Export Catalog).
  2. Open the Tabber page and choose the exported file. It's processed in your browser and isn't uploaded anywhere.
  3. Choose collapsible blocks or headings, and check the preview.
  4. Download the converted file, and a backup of your current descriptions.
  5. Import the converted file into Ecwid (Catalog › Data Import and Export › Import Catalog), and check a few products on your storefront.

If you don't like the result, importing the backup puts everything back as it was. Once no descriptions use tabs, you can uninstall tabber-rs.

If you only have a few products with tabs, you can also edit them by hand: replace each [tab name='...'] with a heading or a collapsible block, and delete any [endtab].

Questions

Will I be charged again? No. Subscriptions have been cancelled, and tabber-rs is free for everyone until it stops working.

Can I still change my tab style after 1 December 2026? No, the style is frozen at the last saved settings. Change it before then if you need to.

Can I still add tabs to new products? Yes, the [tab] shortcodes keep working. If you plan to replace your tabs later, it may be simpler to use Ecwid's collapsible blocks or headings for new products.

I have a lifetime licence. What changes? Nothing about billing. Your tabs keep working in the same way as everyone else's.

Should I install tabber-rs on a new store? We don't recommend it, because it's being retired. Use Ecwid's collapsible blocks or headings, or Tabber from the Ecwid App Market if your platform offers it.

Who do I ask for help? Email support@e-shopdesigner.com until 28 February 2027. For the App Market version of Tabber, please contact Infinite Apps.

Thank you for using Tabber.
